2006 DOG LICENSES AVAILABLE
Dog licenses for 2006 are now available at the Town Office. If licensing your dog in Mount Desert for the first time, please bring in a current MAINE rabies certificate and neuter/spay certificate (if applicable). For dog license renewals, the current rabies certificate is the only form needed. The fees have increased as follows:
Dog: male/female $10.00
Dog: spay/neuter $ 6.00
Late fees have also increased. The additional fee for dog licenses renewed after January 31st is $15.00. Once a warrant has been prepared and signed by the Board of Selectmen, the additional fee increases to $25.00.
If a sticker and tag are lost at any time during the year, or the owner has moved to a different municipality, the owner or keeper of the dog shall obtain a new license, tag and sticker.
License your dog and help fight animal cruelty in Maine - 90% of the dog license fee goes directly to fighting animal cruelty in Maine! New and renewal 2006 licenses are available through the Town Office. The cost is $6.00 if your dog is neutered or spayed, and $10.00 if not. Maine law requires that the rabies certificate be current – if you are unsure, give us a call at 276-5531. For new licenses or newly spayed or neutered dogs, we will also need to see a certificate or statement from the veterinarian.
Remember! Renewal licenses are due by December 31 and late fees begin February 1
