Re: Summit Road Infrastructure Construction Project

WHAT:
· Reconstruction of the sewer, storm drains and water lines, sidewalk and pavement surface in Manchester Road, Summit Road, Stanley Lane and Church Road, as applicable.
· The area is to be restored to equal to or better condition at completion of construction.
· Preconstruction photos and videos of existing conditions of the area are on file.
WHO: The Town is going to be hiring a general contractor through the competitive bid process to construct the project. Bids are to be opened at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 21, 2006 at the town office.
WHERE: Manchester Road going up Summit Road to, and including work in, Church Road and Stanley Lane. Roadways will be open to local traffic; others will be asked to detour.
WHEN: Starting after Labor Day 2006 and must be completed by June 15, 2007. Work hours of 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M, Monday through Friday. No work on weekends unless approved by representatives of the town.
WHY:
· Inadequate storm drainage system – not enough capacity
· Clay sanitary sewer pipes that are cracked and blocked by roots
· Water pipes that are functional yet antiquated
· Sidewalks and roadway in disrepair
COST: Estimated at $1,116,000
FINANCING: General obligation bond approved by the voters at the March 2006 town meeting and the balance of a sewer reserve account.
