Hello, community members!

A Climate to Thrive would like to invite you to join us for “Planning Forward”, a climate and community resilience planning workshop that will be held on November 29th, from 5pm to 8:30 pm at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. In a collaboration between the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, the Island Institute, and A Climate to Thrive, we’re gathering together members of five communities – Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Mount Desert, Bar Harbor, and the Cranberry Isles – for a workshop in which we will explore community values, engage in scenario-based climate planning, and discuss regional needs, questions, and resources.

This workshop is for residents looking to engage in or contribute to climate planning processes, community leaders across diverse sectors municipal leaders, and/or sustainability/climate action group members. Intergenerational, diverse perspectives will make this conversation fruitful. By attending, you'll build relationships, learn about and practice tools to support community-driven, resilience-focused climate planning, and contribute your unique perspective to this process.

Whether you’re an experienced champion for climate work or this is your first time venturing into this space, we would love to see you there. Please RSVP by November 20th to brianna@aclimatetothrive.org, or reach out with any questions. If you know of a colleague, neighbor, or another community member who you think has a valuable perspective to add, please feel free to pass this along to them.

To learn more about sea level rise impacts that we’ll be diving into during this workshop, please also consider attending GMRI's presentation, “Coastal Climate Impacts: Mount Desert Island and Cranberry Islands”, a virtual event on November 20th from 6-7:30 pm. This presentation and discussion will build knowledge and awareness of coastal climate impacts in our region. This is free and open to the general public, and you can register at ACTT's website, https://www.aclimatetothrive.org

Thanks for all you do, and hoping to see you there,

Brianna, Johannah, Gayle, Chrissy, Abby, and Susie (the combined teams at ACTT, GMRI, and Island Institute!)
