The Town will be holding a public forum (February 16, 2022, 6:30pm) in advance of the March 8, 2022, Special Town Meeting for residents to learn more about the proposed fire station projects, increased staffing levels, and the transition of Emergency Medical Services from the Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service over to the Mount Desert Fire Department. The forum will be hosted by Fire Chief Mike Bender with a short presentation on the current fire service delivery model, the need for the renovation and expansion of two fire stations, and the plan to increase full-time staffing to ensure we are prepared for future challenges related to fire and EMS services within the Town. Following the presentation there will be a chance to allow residents to ask questions, share comments and discuss the topics of the night.
A majority of Board of Selectmen may be attending this meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022 via ZOOM. No Selectmen business will be conducted.
