Schedule: Northeast Harbor Main Street Improvements Project 4-4-19

 

Location of Work: The Work Area for April and May this year is the “North End” of the project. Work starts in Main Street in front of the Naturalist Notebook in the travel lane on that same side of the road. Work then proceeds north towards the public parking lot and then up Summit Road to the driveway entrance to the bank.

Traffic Control: During construction, one-way traffic in the southerly direction is to be maintained. There will be periods when there are temporary waits to pass due to a task being worked on. These wait times are to be minimized per contractual agreement. 

Main Street Access: During construction we ask that drivers try to avoid driving through the construction zone if possible. Most locations on Main Street can be reached by more than one route.

Schedule: Subject to change due to unforeseen conditions.

Week of April 8

  •  The contractor will mobilize to the parking lot beside the Knowles Company driveway for the duration of this springs construction. They will begin excavation there and also use it as a storage area for equipment and materials.
  •      Construction signs will be put out by the contractor. The signs will be removed for the summer shutdown.
  •  This area will be cleaned up and things removed for the summer shutdown.

Week of April 15: 15, 16 and 17 on Main Street; 18 and 19 on Main Street & Summit Road

  •  One way traffic begins April 15.
  •  Water Main 8+15 to north end – install 12” valve, install temporary water.
  •  This 12” valve is located in Main Street in front of the Naturalists Notebook and in the travel lane on that side of the street.
  •  24” storm drain on north end including catch basins.

Week of April 22: Main Street

  •  Water Main 8+15 to north end – Install 12” water main.
  •  18” storm drain on north end including catch basins.
  •  8” sewer force main and 8” gravity sewer including manholes.

Week of April 29: Main Street & Summit Road

  •  Test and disinfect water main on north end.
  •  15” storm drain on north end including catch basins.
  •  8” sewer force main and 8” gravity sewer including manholes.

Week of May 6: Summit Road

  •  Clear and remove rock in North Parking Lot area.
  •  Install copper services and install hydrant and install 8”main at Sea Street.
  •  15” storm drain on north end including catch basins.

Week of May 13: Main Street

  •  Rock removal and excavation in North Parking Lot area.

Week of May 20: Main Street & Summit Road

  •  Base and subbase gravel in North Parking Lot area.
  •  Pave North Parking Lot area.
  •  Trench patch for all north end work.
  •  Clean up work site for summer season.
