TOWN OF MOUNT DESERT PUBLIC NOTICE for Absentee Voting and Town Meeting Information

Annual Town Meeting Candidate Election on May 3, 2021 (Somesville Fire Station- Polls hours are 8:00AM to 8:00PM).  You may also request an absentee ballot by:

  • visit the Town Clerk during office hours (M-F 9:00 am to 4:30 pm), or
  • call 276-5531 to have a ballot mailed to you
  • copy of sample ballot

The Town Clerk will also conduct absentee voting at the Town Office (21 Sea St., Northeast Harbor) the evening of April 28, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. after which any request for an absentee ballot must be done in person with a Special Circumstances application.  Special Circumstances are defined as: unexpected absence from town; physical disability; incapacity or illness; or inability to travel to the polls because of residency on a coastal island (access by water only).

The open floor Town Meeting is currently scheduled as a drive-in meeting on May 4th at the MDIHS front parking lot (as we did last August due to Covid-19 social distancing requirements). Voter check-in starts at 5:30pm, with the Town Meeting starting at 6:00pm.
